Target Audience
A highly interative day for anyone who feels they would benefit from being more assertive in their interactions with others.
Key Objectives
Apply what you learn during this workshop and you will be able to:
- Recognise the verbal and non-verbal aspects of non-assertive and aggressive behaviour and, demonstrate appropriate use of assertive behaviour.
- Project more confidence and demonstrate techniques on how to be assertive with difficult people and difficult situations.
- Demonstrate ways of making difficult requests and saying “No” without feeling guilty
Outline
Areas that will be explored:
- Types of behaviour – where does it come from?
- Factors affecting choice of behaviour style – what barriers and enablers are there?
- Thinking positively - rights, beliefs, feelings, emotions, confidence and self-esteem.
- Showing you feel confident – body language
- Say it Right - making a difficult request and saying “No” when appropriate without feeling guilty
- ‘Dealing' with people you find difficult
