Environmental & Sustainability Policy
It is our policy to minimise waste, and consumption of resources (materials, fuel, water and energy). Parris King will ensure that unavoidable waste is, where possible, recycled or disposed of responsibly. We will also foster a sense of responsibility for the environment amongst employees and Associates by the provision of information.
Sustainability
While the products and services that we use do not directly impact the natural environment we are nonetheless committed to attempting to minimise the impact that it has on the natural environment. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Providing alternative transport availability information to course participants and meeting attendees
- Using refreshments which come from sustainable sources and which are fairly traded
- Using energy from sustainable sources where it is possible, and economically feasible, to do so
- Minimising waste of resources which cause atmospheric pollution, such as heating and lighting
- Using electronic delivery methods for communications where is it is possible and appropriate to do so
- Promoting Corporate Social Responsibility with our customers and partners

Reuse: existing items.
Recycle: as much as possible
Recycling and Re-use
We are committed to the concept of recycling and minimising waste where it is possible and feasible to do so. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Using recycled paper and ensuring that the process used to recycle the paper are sustainable and considerate of the natural environment.
- Printing on the back of paper that is now obsolete for internal use.
- Printing two pages to one side for internal use
- Recycling paper and other materials using approved processes or through municipal sites
- Recycling water cooler cups, and containers
- Provide non disposable crockery and cutlery which can be re-used many times
- Re-using printer cartridges
- Charity recycle mobile phones and their accessories
- Utilise Freecycle and the Play & Recycle Centre to recycle obsolete materials/equipment whenever appropriate
Transport Policy
In order to fulfil this policy, the following points should be considered when carrying out activities on behalf of the company and outside of the company.
- Consider the use of public transport where available in order to reduce the impact of fuel emissions on the environment.
- Consider the environment impact when selecting lease or hire cars that are used for company and personal use.
- Car sharing where available.
- Considerate and efficient driving.
- Not leaving a car engine idling.
- Walking or cycling in place of car use for local use.
Continuous Improvement
Parris King has several key measures to ensure compliance with its environmental policy.
- Ensuring that at least 90% of the paper purchased is recyclable
- Providing adequate facility to recycle paper used in day to day operations
- Ensure that, in considering environmental matters, we are not compromising on quality standards with regard to materials, communication and presentation to prospects, members, suppliers and customers
- Considering environmental issues as part of the decision making process for new purchases.
- Identifying the sustainability of all currently purchased products and considering more sustainable alternatives where possible
- Preference should be given to the closest supplier feasible
- Maximum of 10,000 miles travelled per annum per individual in company mileage claims. Public transport to be given preference where it is practical to use
- 100% of equipment to be switched off overnight and not left on standby
